The late Art Fitzsimmons, co-founder of FKS, liked to call his company a "one stop shop" where customers could rent, buy or have their construction tools and equipment repaired in one store.

Although Art is gone, his common sense approach and "supermarket" type concept lives on at FKS, conveniently located in Mapunapuna at 663 Kakoi Street.

Here is where you'll find an attractive, clean and well-stocked showroom with top-of-the-line tools and equipment available to successfully complete any job, a rental department containing the best maintained equipment in Hawaii, and a service department that is one of the few in the state trained to repair all types of light construction and related equipment.

From wheelbarrows, brooms, hoses and multipurpose saws, to concrete vibrators, laser beam sewer beam aligners and shop vacs, you'll find it in FKS's spacious, 7,000 square foot showroom.

A new 16,000 square foot mezzanine stocks enough equipment, tools and accessories so you won't have to wait to get it from the Mainland.

And if you can't find what you're looking for, the courteous and helpful sales staff will help you find it.

"We've added new lines of equipment and tools," notes Sales Manager Wilbert Yoshida. "We've added a lot of accessories too, like sandpaper, tapes and building products.  We've added these things because of greater customer demand. We've found that customers need those accessories and we're moving ahead to meet those demands."

FKS sales staff are knowledgeable about all the tools and equipment the company sells.

But in case you're not sure whether you want to buy the equipment in the showroom, or know how to operate it, step next door to FKS's 16,000 square foot rental department. Here you'll find more than one million dollars worth of tools and equipment available for rental. Not only can you rent these well-maintained items on terms that are convenient, but you'll find their rental rates very affordable.

FKS's Rental Department will also demonstrate the tools and equipment it sells.  What's more, FKS's rental department stocks laser levels, concrete cutting equipment and other specialty equipment competitors don't carry.

We have just about anything you need to do a job.  And our hours are convenient too: 7:00 am to 3:45 pm Monday through Friday.

Maintaining all of that ready-to-use, like-new rental equipment is the job of FKS's Service Department.  But the department is not your run-of-the-mill service department, as Service Manager, Alan Ichiki will tell you.

"We're unique in that our mechanics not only maintain and repair our own equipment, but we also repair our customer's equipment too," he explains.  That means that no matter where you bought your tools or equipment, FKS's service department will service it.  It's as simple as that.

With a quarter of a million dollars worth of replacement parts and a highly-trained staff, you can be sure the work will be done in a timely manner, and done right.

Open from 7:00am to 3:45pm Monday through Friday, the service department also serves as a warranty station for several power tool and equipment manufacturers.

FKS's "one stop shop" concept envisioned by Fitzsimmons is only part of the story.  The company has been an innovator in other ways too.

FKS is one of only a few companies in Hawaii to offer a department that repairs construction optical equipment.

"We've added a room in our building just for calibrating and storing companies' surveying equipment," explains Sales Manager Yoshida.

While FKS has been a pioneer in demonstrating how equipment and tools operate, it plans to use video tapes in educational efforts.

"We have a lot of videos from manufacturers that customers can use in our conference room," Yoshida explains. "In the future, we're thinking of possibly putting on video tape shows in a room where all of a company's employees can come down and view them."
